This Privacy Policy describes how Mohey collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information when you use the mohey iOS app, its widget and Live Activity features, and related services (collectively, the Service).
Mohey is a private communication and presence app that lets users create an account, create a profile, connect with selected people, send and receive relationship requests, exchange Whisper messages, receive knock and room notifications, and join ambient voice and video rooms.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect or process through the Service, including through the iOS app, widgets, Live Activities, push notifications, and related backend services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services that you choose to use through the Service, such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, except to the extent we receive information from those services. Those third parties may process your information under their own privacy policies and terms.
2. Information We Collect
We collect or process the following categories of information, depending on how you use the Service:
- Account and authentication information. If you sign in using Apple or Google, we may receive and process your third-party account identifier, email address provided by that provider, and authentication or session information needed to sign you in and keep you signed in.
- Profile information. We collect information you choose to provide for your mohey profile, such as your display name, initials, invite code, avatar or avatar settings, nickname preferences, presence or status settings, and similar account setup information.
- Relationship and social graph information. We collect information needed to create and maintain your relationships and interactions in the app, such as outgoing and incoming relationship requests, accepted connections, connection preferences, nicknames you set for other users, and invite-code based relationship records.
- Messages and interaction content. If you use Whisper or similar messaging features, we process the content of messages you send and receive, as well as related metadata such as sender or recipient identifiers, message IDs, timestamps, delivery or acknowledgement status, and clear or delete events.
- Call, room, and session information. If you use ambient voice or video rooms or knock or call features, we process information such as room IDs, session states, participant identifiers, invitation status, timing information, and feature settings associated with those sessions.
- Camera and microphone information. With your permission, the app accesses your camera and microphone so you can participate in ambient voice and video features. Live audio and video are processed and transmitted in real time to provide the Service. We do not intentionally record or store the content of live audio or video sessions on our application servers as part of ordinary operation, although temporary technical buffering or relay processing may occur as needed to provide the Service.
- Notification, widget, and Live Activity information. If you enable notifications, widgets, or Live Activities, we may process your Apple Push Notification service token, widget push token, notification preferences, and limited content necessary to display updates, such as names, initials, room state, knock status, or Whisper preview text, depending on your settings and device configuration.
- Device, app, and technical information. We may process technical information such as an app-generated device identifier, device name, platform, app version, build number, bundle identifier, request metadata, timestamps, and operational or error logs needed to run, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
- Diagnostics and performance information. To maintain call quality and reliability, we may process diagnostics such as transport path, round-trip time, bitrate, packet loss, jitter, frame rate, frame size, room quality samples, and related operational metrics.
- Safety and support information. If you submit a report, safety concern, or support request, we may process the information you provide, including the users involved, the reason for the report, and related account or session details needed to review it.
- Automatically processed network information. Like most online services, our servers and service providers may automatically receive technical request information such as IP address, user agent, and related metadata to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the Service.
For the current iOS version of mohey, we do not request access to your Contacts, photo library, or precise location.
3. How We Collect Information
- Directly from you. For example, when you create a profile, sign in, send a Whisper, connect with another user, adjust preferences, or contact support.
- Automatically through your use of the Service. For example, when the app registers for push notifications, creates room sessions, updates widgets or Live Activities, or generates operational diagnostics.
- From third-party services you choose to use. For example, when you sign in through Apple or Google, we receive the information those services provide to us for authentication and account setup.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Authenticate users and manage sign-in sessions.
- Create and maintain profiles, invite-code relationships, requests, and connection preferences.
- Deliver Whisper messages, knock requests, notifications, widgets, Live Activities, and room or session functionality.
- Enable ambient voice and video features using camera and microphone permissions you grant.
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, security incidents, and technical problems.
- Monitor service reliability, troubleshoot connection or media-quality issues, and improve performance.
- Respond to support requests, safety concerns, and moderation issues.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our policies, and protect the rights, safety, and security of users and others.
We do not use personal information collected through the Service for cross-app or cross-site behavioral advertising.
5. How We Share Information
- With service providers and infrastructure providers. We may share information with vendors and contractors that help us provide the Service, such as hosting, storage, communications, authentication, and push-notification providers.
- With Apple or Google when you choose their services. If you use Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, Apple Push Notification service, widgets, or related Apple platform features, those providers may process information necessary to authenticate you, deliver notifications, or support device features under their own policies and platform terms.
- With other users as part of the Service. Certain information is shared with the users you choose to interact with, such as your display name, initials, invite code, relationship or knock status, and the content of messages or session activity you intentionally send or participate in.
- For legal, safety, and compliance reasons. We may disclose information if we believe doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our policies; or to protect the rights, safety, and security of mohey, our users, or others.
- In connection with a business transaction. If mohey is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Mohey does not sell personal information. Mohey does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Mohey does not knowingly use the Service to track you across third-party apps, websites, or services for advertising purposes.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, operate the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect the Service.
- Account and profile information is retained while your account is active.
- Relationship, request, and session information is retained as needed to provide app functionality.
- Whisper messages and related metadata may be retained until they are cleared, deleted under product logic, no longer needed for the feature, or your account is deleted.
- Notification tokens are retained until they are refreshed, deactivated, become inactive, or your account is deleted.
- Diagnostics, logs, and safety-related information may be retained for a limited period as reasonably necessary for reliability, security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance.
If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify the personal information associated with your account from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or backup or archival purposes.
7. Your Choices and Controls
- You can review and update certain profile information in the app.
- You can control camera and microphone permissions through iOS Settings.
- You can control push notification permissions and notification previews through iOS Settings and app or device settings.
- If you enable widgets or Live Activities, limited account, relationship, or Whisper preview information may appear on your device surfaces based on your settings.
- You can stop using a particular feature at any time.
- You can request deletion of your account within the app.
8. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including California and certain other U.S. states, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information, and the right to appeal a denied request where required by law.
Mohey does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. International Data Transfers
Mohey may process and store information in the United States and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your jurisdiction.
10. Children's Privacy
Mohey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take steps to delete it.

11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the Service or by other means.
